Pennsylvania's ballot has three regions and no consensus. Philadelphia sends the Cheesesteak, Hoagies on a seeded roll, and the Soft Pretzel with mustard, the state making most of America's. Pennsylvania Dutch country answers with Scrapple, Shoofly Pie, Whoopie Pie, and the Fastnacht on Fat Tuesday. Pittsburgh contributes Pierogi, which race at baseball games, and the Pittsburgh Stacked Sandwich with fries and slaw inside. Altoona Pizza, on American cheese, defends itself alone. What Pennsylvania is famous for depends on which turnpike exit you take. So what is Pennsylvania's official state dish? That question is the whole point.
