Counting the ballots…
Arizona's ballot runs along the Sonoran border and up onto tribal land. Tucson sends Carne Seca, the Cheese Crisp, and Green Corn Tamales; Phoenix claims the Chimichanga. The Sonoran Hot Dog and Carne Asada Tacos came north with the ranches. Fry Bread and Navajo Tacos are powwow and fair food. And the desert supplies the last two on its own: Tepary Bean Soup and Prickly Pear Jelly, from plants nobody planted. Arizona is famous for chiles and mesquite smoke, and the list splits between them. So what is Arizona's official state dish? Ten dishes, one vote.
